The stuff works when used properly
It worked for me during peak rut. Buck came in and made a scrape rubbed his antlers all in the limbs above his head on my first use. Pulled in another buck on second use, followed the trail right passed me. Granted you still have to use good wind management. If you use a scent and drag it inline with your down wind, you probably won't see much, no scent will work like that except possibly a young buck. Deer will not come to human odor with or without lure scent. Use a drag to make a scent line across the wind and then curve it up wind at an angle of your position crossing in front of you. Do not soak the drag, just a small amount works better than overpowering amount. This works. Having a doe decoy posted out at the scent termination works even better. I have been hunting for 35years and have experimented with scents over the years with varying degrees of success. Just like many of the negative reviews I've used multiple scents (all the so called top brands) with 0 success. I've come to the conclusion that it depends on the amount of hunting pressure on the property and probably even more so the rut phase. Deer know the other deer in the area. If you go in there and scent bomb the area, deer will be suspicious. But, if you stay out of the prime area and wait until the rut starts up before introducing scent your sightings will go up regardless of the name brand, so long as it is fresh.

Who can say?
It's deer hunting and it's not like a scent that brings in a deer is better than one that doesn't on any given day. I did have two young bucks spook at a doe decoy with two wicks of this scent on her haunches. That could have been the decoy, but it did seem it had their attention. A few more hunts with this stuff on wicks and no reason to believe it had a positive effect. Dumped the rest in two scrapes and that was the end of it. I'd ignore my star rating, because it's too subjective rating doe lure, bit I did want to say that I did not find this to be particularly effective, but that's not an indictment or a proclamation it is utterly ineffective.
