Attractive, Precision Granular Side-to-Side Range Adjustments, You don't need to switch to Gardena attachment system.
Review for: GARDENA ZoomMaxx Oscillating Sprinkler on Weighted Sled Base HOW EVEN IS THE WATERING: ----------------------------- There are reviews out there that extoll the even watering virtues of this sprinkler. While I like this sprinkler, it doesn't seem to water all that evenly. We staked out water rain gauges at 5', 10', 15', and 20' all at 5' off to the side. We also staked out another rain gauge at 15' out and 10' off to the side. After a repeat run to confirm here is the results: GARDENA ZoomMaxx 2300 sqft. Oscillating Sprinkler on a sled: ___5'_____10'____15'____20' __0.25"__0.25"__0.53"__0.81" The rain gauge 15' out and 10' to the side gave the same reading as the one 15' out and only 5' off to the side, 0.53" of water. HOW EVEN DO OTHER SPRINKLERS WATER: --------------------- GARDENA 3900 sqft. Oscillating Sprinkler: ___5'_____10'____15'____20' __0.25"__0.30"__0.70"__0.88" MELNOR 3900 sqft. Oscillating Sprinkler: [Coming Soon] FINELY ADJUSTABLE SIDE RANGES: --------------------------------- Most oscillating sprinklers with side adjustment allow for a few well-separated side range adjustments. This one (and the Gardena classic style oscillating sprinkler) can set the side ranges more precisely. This can be useful if, for example, there are things on both sides of the lawn you don't want to water much, like a home or a stone wall you are weeding. I don't think this is a big benefit, but in case it is to you I included it here. CONS: ------ The knobs that limit how far over the sprinkler will tilt in each direction are hard to set with precision quickly, you'll be adjusting-watching and adjusting-watching again as needed. By comparison those range limiters for the classic oscillating sprinkler designs we see everywhere are easy to adjust. The reason for the difficulty is that the knob on each wheel is quite small and rounded, tough to get any sort of real grip on it. It helps to turn the dial with fingertips from both hands working from both sides of the wheel to get more precision. DO YOU NEED TO SWITCH TO GARDENA ATTACHMENT SYSTEM? -------------------------------- There is no need to buy more Gardena attachments to make this work if you don't want to. I just took a male brass connector from Home Depot or Lowes, wrapped its outside threading in silicon tape, and screwed it into the Gardena connector that comes with this sprinkler, and I was good to go. My hose has the female brass connector.

I have two. One is broken after 5 months of use. Also, notes on pumping water from rain barrel.
I have invested in the Gardena system. Not a ton, but after being disappointed with my Lowes purchases constantly breaking, I bought two of these sprinklers this spring. I liked them so much that i purchased a set of their proprietary hose attachments and a spray head as well. German engineering... should be great right? There is a lot of good about these... the weight of them is nice and the adjustability is excellent. The timers are excellent and quick connects that automatically seal when disconnected are also excellent. (The connects are all plastic and I am mildly concerned about how sensitive they are to early freezes, but this issue is expected and understandable.) Still, unless I am a little unlucky, Gardena sprinklers appear to be about as unreliable as any other $25-$35 sprinkler I can buy at Lowes. They do offer a 5 year warranty, so I am testing that now. I will say that the website does not make it easy to file a warranty claim. I looked through the site and could not find any direct references to Warranty Claims, so I put in a request to their support line. I will report on my progress. Frustrating though, because her I am in the Fall with an aerated and seeded lawn and two BRAND NEW sprinklers and one is inoperable. Not the kind of reliability I was looking for. Regarding Rain-barrel irrigation: I have a TurboRain pump which distributed the nearly 1000 gallons of water I collect from my 25x35 garage roof. It includes a silt filter running the still operable sprinkler. Not every sprinkler works great with the reduced (but still fairly strong) water pressure coming from the TurboRain (Purchased 2017). This sprinker was exceptional in that regard. The adjustability is excellent for efficient distribution of the water... which is really great for conservation, especially during dry periods. Also, these, so far, have proven far less likely to clog than other sprinklers, though this may be partly due to my replacement of mixed brass/aluminum components that seem to react and produce a lot of mineral particulates in-line. Which the Gardena plastic fasteners do not generate.

Nice sprinkler.
Maybe I've been in self-isolation/quarantine too long, but was really looking forward to this sprinkler for my small, but oddly shaped townhouse yard. My 5 dollar plastic sprinkler was no longer cutting it, so I decided to splurge. It did not disappoint. Widely adjustable, looks well made and covers all the yard. Not much was supplied in the way of instructions, but it's pretty easy to figure out once you start it up. Very happy with the purchase.

Best sprinkler ever!
We've had many Gardena sprinklers, but after 20 years, they've worn out. So in purchasing a new one, we were budget conscious. This one was the least expensive. However, the smaller footprint and the number of adjustable options on it makes it the most versatile sprinkler we've ever had. We have smaller spaces that are odd shapes because of mature trees. The flow control on this sprinkler let's us put the water where it is needed without wasting it on a too big area, or high up in the canopy of a tree. Beautiful product. Bravo Gardena, for another excellent product. I'm going to replace all our sprinklers with this one.

Excellent
I live in a 112 year old home. The water lines to the home are smaller then todays standard so the water pressure is very low. Most sprinklers aren’t able to function on low water pressure. This sprinkler works perfect under low water pressure.

Brilliant purchase; comes with the added feature of the water timer
Don't let the pastelish colors fool you, this is a finely engineered and sturdy product. It's a very precise mechanical sprinkler powered by the movement of the water that can be tuned to spray and direct water with precision. This item has the added value that it comes with the ingenious water timer! I originally thought the water timer would be built into the sprinkler itself, but its not; it is a separate item that comes with. The water timer attaches to the spout at the wall and has a brilliant spring loaded dial that you can set for up to 120 minutes. Water shuts off when the timer is done. Brilliant purchase.

The best I've ever gotten
I have 3 gardena sprinklers, the in-ground spike, and 2 sled base sprinklers. They all work beautifully. I did, however, try to daisy chain the sled and spike sprinkler with two hoses, and some water pressure is lost overall, but it still manages to distribute the water across both sprinklers evenly. The challenge is that rotating the head actually means you are loosening it from the base, so to rotate, you have to rotate the entire base. The sprinkler coverage is a square/rectangle, and I have an oddly shaped lot, so there are limits to it in terms of getting those harder to reach corners, without further re-positioning of the unit. Overall, top product. I got the bases when they were only $70 a few years ago!
