Better than expected...

Hadn't seen these in the box stores, but after seeing on Amazon I searched out and found the at a much higher price locally, so it was time to take a chance at $10 per filter and see if they would help cut down on dust, allergens and odors. I left the first filter in for a little over 4 months and it was clogged with dirt/dust when removed, so put some tape with change date on the furnace so I change the next filter on time. Have noticed a decrease in the amount of dust inside the house, but part of that could be due to less new construction and the whole house vacuum system so I can't give these new filters 100% credit, maybe 75% better than the cheaper filter it replaced. I bought a years supply if changed every 3 months, and plan to continue using these unless something better comes along for the same or better price, but they will be pretty tough to beat! Oh, also not sure if they really helped with odors that much, with three dogs and cooking fish, but it was worth a try, can't beat the price for the quality!

Not perfect, but helps with smoke and allergies

I have a neighbor who runs food trucks and grilling smoke is a daily problem. While I haven't found a furnace filter that removes it completely, this is the best I've found. Also cuts down on my allergies.

Pretty good filter

I've been using these filters for a couple months and just re-purchased. I live in a new neighborhood where there is a lot of construction dust, so I change the filter monthly. I also have two kids, a dog, and a cat. I think the filters worked well, especially for the price. I noticed that the vents have less dust on them and the dust on furniture doesn't accumulate as quickly. The odor claim is difficult to prove. I don't know how well these filters would do if left in longer than a month, but for now they're doing well for my house.

Better Air Quality Comes with a Price.

This product, like most, has good points and things that the buyer needs to be aware of. We’ve been using these for around six months in the house we’ve been working on. Overall, the filters have been great, but I’m only rating this a 3 Star for reasons I’ll explain in a moment. The Good: Hey this product seems to do a great job catching dust and filtering out some bad smells. It isn’t a silver bullet, but it does seem to keep the dog smells down. It catches pretty fine particles and has a good backing to keep it from falling apart. The fit in our system was excellent! The Bad: The charcoal seems to be pretty loosely applied and some of it came off in transit and storage. There is also a trade off between air quality and air flow, at least with our older system. This filter is dense, which helps it to capture smaller particulates, but in return the system has to work harder to get enough air flow. The Ugly: Nothing really. Just understand that this is going to cost more to operate than thinner filters. We get pretty decent airflow even with our 90’s model blower, but there is a marked increase in the cost of using this filter compared to lesser products. In the peak of the summer we switched to a lighter filter, but once it started getting cool again we wanted our air quality back. We get 2 months of solid using out of these.

Caused the furnace to shutdown

I bought a pack of 4 I used 4 of the 4. Worked good over the summer and fall. I woke up one morning in the winter and the temp in the house was 62 F and I had set the furnace to 70 F. I pulled the filter out and the house was able to heat up. The temp out side was negative which is why I did not have an issue earlier in the winter. I bought a regular filter from Home Depot and have not had any issues. The filter I removed was under a month old.

Filtrete App - don't recommend.

Have to update my previous review. Filter is great and worth the extravagance. I do not, however, recommend the app that connects to the filter through blueteeth. Demands a lot of information and uses zip code data for feedback. Don't get sucketed into that.
