why was it covered in green plastic?

The plastic was coming off each item - so I stripped it completely - still left some plastic stuck in hard-to-reach places. (even after running it through the dishwasher - twice.) It was lighter-weight than I expected. BUT, it's perfect for lighter uses - AND for buttering and eating hot corn on the cob. Definitely a good summer tool - and beyond. Just downgraded the review. After using this for a while - the good is - I have found many more uses for this small device. But the bad is - the spring inside and the clip on the outside are not properly coated - and they RUST! I haven't owned any kitchen utensils that rusted in decades. What a surprise.

The edges of these tongs are very sharp.

Some things are best bought in person. These tongs are super thin and the edges are super sharp. I have to use extreme care when hand washing them to avoid being cut by the edges. They would not be strong enough to handle a heavy job like turning a large piece of meat. I would not have bought them if I had put my hands on them first.

Misleading Description of the products quality

Very disappointed in this item. Material is thin and flimsy. Very cheaply made. I guess that explains the price.

Cheap Tongs with Plastic still stuck to them

These tongs were unfortunately poorly constructed and definitely cheap material. The plastic that they were wrapped in was also stuck to the tongs. I feel like they are more disposable, but probably will last a few uses. I will get some use out of them, but will look elsewhere for future tong purchases.

Extremely low quality.

These are very thin metal. The little ring that closes the tongs fell off with the first use. They are misaligned, so they do not grip well.
