Good size and lightweight to avoid hat hair
I ordered this hat in cream and despite what another reviewer said, I think it is very much off white and no darker than that. After receiving it, I may have preferred the brown from an aesthetic stand point, but for functionality I couldn't have asked for more. I bought a very similar style hat from Coolibar that is heavier and tighter on the head, perhaps with a bit more stretch, but it leaves the worst sweaty hat hair. I like this hat for several reasons. I can wear it while driving, because it's small and flexible. It is light weight while still blocking the sun, which means it's cooler on your head. And because it's a little large (not tight), it allows more undisturbed hair room (I wear my hair up usually). And white is always good for sun because it doesn't absorb as much heat. So I leave it in my car for driving or anytime I may need it as my go-to hat. I may put a contrasting or decorative ribbon on it. I usually wear a larger sun hat for specific occasions, but this is great hat for everyday use since I've been developed a sun sensitivity. It arrived fast and in new condition.

I must say that I in general look quite bad in a hat, so I only have functional ones. But I do love this hat and I wear it a lot! I lost my first had, this is the replacement. I love that you can do most anything to it and then reshape it the way you need it - pack it flat in a suitcase, jam it into your purse, sit on it (by mistake), or just make the brim do crazy things. The brim is not too big at 3 something inches. I do a lot of photography and this is my 'shooting hat' as it blocks the light from all angles (if that's what's needed) and yet I can push the brim up to clear space for the flash attachment. Being one size may be a problem for some people, and actually it is a tad big for my head. But I don't care, it stays on and works very well for me.

Nice hat. Not quite the anti migraine solution I was hoping for.
I got this hat to try and help with blocking light when I'm photosensitive from a migraine. The hat is cute and blocks lots of light. I'd give it 3 stars for that purpose. It works before I'm going into a full on migraine with a very dark pair of glasses, but the nature of the fabric and the bell shape makes it a "loud" hat. The sound of the hat brushing my shoulders as I move my head is quite noticeable and intolerable once I've gone into full on migraine. I may try wetting it down to see if I can reduce the stiffness of the fabric and whether that dampens the swishiness. As just a hat, however, it is very easy to mold into the shape I want, even when kids use it as a toy for awhile.

I have never really been a hat person before but I had to have a basal cell carcinoma removed from near my eye last summer so I am taking sun protection much more seriously. In addition to wearing makeup with a high SPF I have started wearing hats when I plan to be outside for any period of time. I bought this one to use while traveling this summer. I already have beach hats, but wanted something that would work for touring cities. This hat is nice, it folds flat to make it easier to travel with but has enough structure that it holds its shape when open. I think it will serve its purpose when I travel.

Nice Sun Hat for Travel
I don't feel that I have a particularly large head. I've never had a problem fitting into one size fits all hats, but this one is quite snug. If my head were any bigger I don't think it would fit. That being said, this is kind of a bonus because it is not constantly blowing away. I'm not 100% crazy about the way it looks on my head (kind of sticks up a bit at the top and makes my head shape look kind of weird), but I got it mainly for wearing when I am gardening and for running around. I love that I can fold it up and stuff it in my bag. The material is rough and stiff, but not really noticeable on your head. Overall, for the price and the SPF coverage, I completely recommend this hat.

Runs Small
I bought this hat largely based on all the glowing reviews. Sadly, it did not work for me. It runs a bit small, imo. In sized hats, I wear a women's large. This hat is far too tight, which would be uncomfortable in the sun. In addition, the cream color is not neutral - it is in the yellow family and doesn't work with my skin tone. Although I prefer the slightly smaller brim on this San Diego hat, there are other SNS hats with a 4" brim that fit me so much better and are about the same quality. I have it in white - look for SNS SPF 50+ Basic Ribbon Sun Hat with Tie WARNING: This item is supposedly eligible for free returns when purchased from Amazon. Amazon did not pay for return shipping, which was at my own expense. I would have never purchased the item had it not stated -- on the product page -- that it was a clothing item eligible for free returns.

Perfect Sun Hat
San Diego hats are excellent fit and quality. I already own this hat in a different color and when it was time to get a new sun hat, this was the only brand I wanted to buy from. This particular hat has a bit of stiffness to it so it can firmly grasp on your head without being too tight, and the ribbon allows for tightness adjusting. The ribbons are excellent quality sewn together and retains its shape forever. The brim is long enough to keep the sun out of my eyes and prevent sun burn while not interfering with my vision. I plan to own a lot more of these in various colors! They are casual enough for day yet because the ribbons are so thin and elegant, can be used for a formal event like an outdoor wedding or special occasion. For sure, this is an excellent hat to have in your closet for all kinds of occasions.
