Watch arrived defective.

I just received this lovely watch. When I tried to adjust the time, however, I realized that the time adjustment knob is stuck and bent. I cannot adjust the time. I will be returning this for a replacement. Hopefully the new one has no defects. UPDATE- I returned the first watch and ordered a replacement which arrived this evening. This time the crown isn’t bent but it sticks out. When I push it in it’s not going all the way in. In other words, it’s not sitting flush against the rim of the watch. I tried twice and was let down twice. It’s too bad because it’s a lovely watch otherwise. Replacement watch is the one in the brighter picture. UPDATE 2 - Right after I posted the update above I did some research and learned that this watch has a screw down crown which is why it was sticking out. How this works is that you have push in the crown. When it cannot go in any further, maintain the pressure on the crown and start screwing it in a forward direction; ie, away from you. I’m now happy with my purchase even though two links had some minor scuffs. Final note: The return process was too tiring through UPS and Amazon took a while to confirm receipt of the return. When shopping on Amazon it’s best to shop from a seller who allows returns via Kohl’s. The refund is quick and you even get $5.00 is Kohl’s cash.

Keeps perfect time.

I really like this watch. I've had it for about a month and the time is still spot-on. I also have a Seiko Coutura and this keeps time just as well without having to pick up the time from Fort Collins. This is my first Bulova watch but will not be my last.

Extremely beautiful

The watch looks more beautiful in real life than pic’s especially when you pay attention to the design details. I had many compliments for it. The only disappointing thing is that the wastch is not automatic it works on battery.

Overall great!

The watch itself was great! Elegant yet masculine. Wear as an everyday watch or with a suit. The box didn’t seem as though it was the original, it had tape king of holding it together. Then the front lip actually just flops open. However the watch was in great shape and looked new.

Solid Value for the Money

A very nice upscale looking piece. Don't really know yet about accuracy & water resistance but would assume it will be fine based on other Bulova/Accutrons over many years - and the movement is said to be Japanese (good). Steel & gold is a preference without overdoing the gold. This item achieves that (with the rose gold tint). The watch has good heft, feels solid, & is diametrically large, but not too large. The blue face & bezel is subtle under typical indoor lighting. So far, a strong Recommend - esp'ly for the money at the Amazon price at time of purchase. At jewelers the price is easily double, or more, in a marquee display. surprised to read this model is discontinued. Seems like a consensus hit men's watch product. [Update] Still lovely & quite accurate. Nice dressy sports watch with an easy-to-read (w'out glasses) hands & face.

Bulova Marine Star

I opened the box to this watch for the first time and in 5 minutes got my first compliment! I was told that this watch looks very high end and expensive. Yea, this Marine Star is a keeper! Absolutely beautiful. I like the heavier feel and size overall. Will need to take about 4 links out of the watch band but that's OK. This watch came in a very timely manner (Thank you Amazon) and the box was not damaged in any way. A shame that this watch is being discontinued! Get one while you can. MS

Quality timepiece, unique look

Having had a Marine Star before, I knew the quality of these watches is quite good for the price. It's a fairly heavy, solid watch with a fairly unique look... the gold color is a bit more on the copper side, which initially disappointed me a bit, but now I find it stunning...more subdued and mature than some cheaper, "blingy" watches, and the accents on the bracelet are similarly subtle. The movement is superb, the chronometer operates easily and smoothly, the small second hand moves smoothly linked to the 1/20 chronograph dial, the calender is in a unique spot at the bottom of the dial, the slightly domed mineral crystal looks perfect, the clasp is strong and has good adjustability with a secure safety bar and extender, and everything seems to line up well, with the exception of the 1/20 hand which is slightly off (thus the 4/5 rating, sorry but not perfect). Doesn't bother me at all but worthy of note. Bulova continues to provide high quality, heirloom worthy watches to be proud of.
