Cuts well
I used the BOSCH CSH1 1/2-Inch HSS Countersink to enlarge screw holes on some door hinges so I could install larger, longer stronger screws and pull up a sagging door. It worked great.

pretty decent bit
this is for a drill or router. I use it for reaming some space for bevelled flat screw. Price was decent enough

Doesn't last
I've run through a lot of these countersinking the screws on my DDR machine and of all the brands I've gotten from the hardware store or harbor freight this one is by far the worst. Right out of the box it cut almost as badly as the worn out one I just replaced. After slowly sinking about 5 holes into 1/4" stainless steel it was doing worse than the worn Ryobi bit that I drilled well over 20 holes with. Don't fall for the Bosch name this is just more brand engineered junk like has become so common from Bosch lately.

Great design and decent quality
The design and material of this countersink is great; the five flute design minimized chattering, and it's made of good, hard steel, suitable for use in metal as well as wood. The design is especially important when using it with a hand drill, as it will cut a smooth hole even by hand (though obviously results are better with a drill press). The quality is only decent; as other reviewers have noted, it came with some small burs and nicks in the cutting edges. Not enough to make much difference cutting in wood, but it does impact cutting in metal. However, I was able to clean up the edges fairly easily with a fine grit sharpening stone, and after that it cut great in mild steel. I've also sharpened it more than once over the couple years I've had it, after lots of metal drilling dulled it. I had to be careful to sharpen each flute the same amount to avoid unbalancing the cutting action, but all that takes is keeping track of where I have and haven't sharpened. The bit has cut well and smoothly after resharpening.

It goes the distance.
I've been expanding countersunk holes in stainless steel plate for over 250 holes and its still sharp. Definitely worth the money.

Got The Job Done
Not sure if the blade is still sharp after 3 holes but I was drilling in oak. It was certainly good for 3 holes.

Sharp and tough - the best countersink I've tried
I only got around to trying this for the first time this week and it's surprisingly tough. It's sharper than I expected and after countersinking many holes in wood, plastic and carbon fibre all week, it shows no sings of dulling yet. Given that the other countersinks I used to use would dull within a day and become completely useless within a week, this one has been very worth the extra couple of dollars.

Essential
It's been working well to make countersunk holes for my screws in metal, plastic and wood. An essential tool in my kit.

now that I have used it extensively I recommend it 100 percent
I did not rate this countersink when originally requested because I wanted time for it to prove itself , now that I have used it extensively I recommend it 100 percent . Still works well after multiple uses.
