Orioles love it. Bees die.

Received timely. The product is good. Orioles went straight to it. I really think for the price paid they should include bee guards with it. The flaw is bees drowning in it. In two days ive had 3 bees almost die. Send customers free bee guards!!!!! UPDATE ** 4/6/2015 ** I just cannot use this product anymore. It has turned into a bee trap. It is not ant proof either despite the built in ant moat. Im fishing out 5 or more bees daily and its killing me. Orioles wont touch it due to the anrs and bees swimming for theyre life. When i clean it it lasts for a good 10 mi utes until its filled with bees and ants again. I much rather by the humming bird aspects fancy product works best and orioles drink from it anyways.

Not so much.

I have 5 orioles that frequent my yard and like to sit on the two hummingbird feeders but they're bee proof and have restricted openings so they can't get to the liquid. Unfortunately, the oriole feeder due the bigger openings for the birds, attracts various types of bees and wasps and within hours of hanging it up, the liquid is nothing but a mass graveyard. Oh...and the color doesn't seem to attract them at all. The quartered navel orange I've been putting out in an empty birdbath, however, does a wonderful job of attracting them.

Not great for Hawaiian birds

This oriole feeder seems well-made and may work well for orioles. It does not seem to work very well for the birds that visit sugar water feeders in my part of Oahu in Hawaii: Japanese White-eyes, Red-vented and Red-whiskered Bulbuls, Red-billed Leiothrix and House Finches. I have had the best results here with feeders with tubes hanging down from the feeder, especially the feeders from Peters Feeders. Unfortunately, that company seems to have gone out of business and I am down to the last of my feeders from them.

Poor design

I was very excited to get this oriole feeder as I saw the same one at Wildbirds Unlimited. I figured it must be good if they sell it. Well, it is the worse feeder I have purchased. I agree with the other reviews that it's a bee trap. I hung it on the branch along with my other feeders and the birds never went to it. It did attract bees, flies and assorted other flying insects. I think the feeding holes are too large allowing the insect to get to the nectar. It's too bad it didn't have some sort of plastic inserts to keep the insects out. Oh, and the trap on the top to keep out the ants, didn't happen.

Good for the money spent

I bought this product as I have two of the manufacturers products for hummingird feeders thinking this would help me attract orioles. It works good on the hummingbirds, but I have only attracted a oriole once or twice. Tough birds to attract for me where I am located. Beautiful birds and I will not quite trying to bring them in. I can only hope this works better next season.

Best ever on the market.

The "Aspects" Oriole Feeder is much more durable and easier to clean than all of the similar and copy-cat models. These are even dishwasher safe although I would just recommend wiping it clean by hand with an extremely mild soap or safer cleaner. My orioles love these and they are very attracted by the orange coloring. My friend has videos and pictures of a Western Tanager using his. Hummingbirds will use it too unless you put up the smaller "Aspects" Hummzinger feeder for their use. Nectar recipe is on the bottom of the feeder.

Holes too big

I purchased the oriole feeder at the end of last season, so when I saw our new arrivals this year I got the feeder out and filled it. The birds did use the feeder when I first put it out but because the feeder holes are just open holes, within a day the liquid inside was full of bugs and debris. They kept using the hummingbird feeders and because I didn't want them to get sick from the polluted nectar I've taken it down. I like the idea of an easy feeder for the orioles to use, but this one doesn't work.

Birds seem to like

Reason I bought this was to try to keep the bee situation down around my Oriel feeder. In the long run it has because the bees can't help crawling into it. Which means they ultimately die. On the up side - - they don't tell the hive where the feeder is & bring no new bees to it. On the down side - - it was not my intent to drown bees. ;) Very easy to clean etc. And like I wrote -- - the birds seem to like it.
