necessary maintenance and priced right

I ordered the full set of 5 filters. The pre-filter and 2 big carbon filters were in a box, great. The membrane came in a heavy duty sealed bag, no box. Still OK. The FINAL in-line carbon filter was delivered as pictured. No bag, NOTHING! I thought it was a used customer return or something, but looks like others have experienced the same. The only thing to keep contaminants from getting into this in-line filter are the little soft rubber plugs. Hugely disappointed at the lack of cleanliness in this product's delivery. APEC can definitely do better here. At least with the membrane filter, I know its new and clean.

Does its job and lasted a long time

The water quality from this system is great and we don't need bottled water for drinking or ice. It lasted over 4 years based on readings from my TDS meter and probably would have gone longer.

Worked.... for a bit (UPDATED)

I was glad to find the right membrane, and it worked great for about a month and a half. Now it's already stopping water flow almost completely. Not sure if I'll have to just rebuy another one or if I can find one that works better, so time to do some research. Just be aware, this one might not last long if you choose to go this route. UPDATE: Company reached out to me and had me run a few tests on the system... then sent me a new membrane when we realized something must be wrong with the one I bought. Good customer service and I appreciate them making it right.

Easy to install if you know how to extract...

I had a friend of mine install the water filtration system. When I want to replace the filters, I found these to be difficult. To begin, you need a special wrench from APEC to remove the cover. BE SUPER CAREFUL when removing the tubes... these break easily. DO NOT use a pincher. Use your hand. The filter works great and water flowers faster now.

Works, but who makes the membrane?

Not sure if it is a Hydron or Filmtech filter but my previous membrane that came with my APEC system was Hydron and only lasted 18 months. After installing the new one my RO water TDS went from 400 to 80. The source water is 1500 TDS so the reject rate is very good on this membrane. The membrane housing was on way too tight from the factory. I had to remove the housing and put it in my vice to unscrew the gap with an 18" pipe wrench. APEC also does not include replacement O-rings for the membrane housing. Why the heck not for what they are charging? Minus one star for no eeplacement housing O-rings (see photos).

This is a great membrane filter replacement.

I replace all my RO filters annually. After five years of constant use it was time to replace my membrane filter as well. It was very easy to install. Now my water is once again better than bottled water. I am very happy with this purchase.

Third time membrane has failed

We have now had 3 of these APEC membranes fail. We resorted to find an off brand replacement which worked perfectly. When we bought a brand new APEC system the membrane didn't work, and we asked APEC for a replacement after many emails and hours of troubleshooting. They demanded we pay for shipping of the replacement filter which they later waived. We ordered a full set of replacement filters during a sale and the membrane in that set failed again. As we had it in storage for 6-8 months we thought it didn't age well and ordered a 3rd membrane from Amazon but this one also failed. Fortunately we found an off brand membrane on Amazon which worked perfect.
