Fabulous Coat, Fabulous Price, and Not Only for Men!

I’m one of those women who prefer men’s winter coats. They’re roomier in the torso, so fit me better over thick cold-weather layers. In women’s sizes I wear medium 10/12. This review will be from the female perspective. First off, I absolutely LOVE the color. It’s Dark Olive in the listing but I see pine needles blended with juniper. When I lifted it out of the packaging, I was surprised at its weight. Just for fun, I decided to step on the scale to test it, and it weighs 3.5 lbs. which is heavier than any other winter coat in my closet. The length from chin to bottom hem is 40” and it hits me just below my knees. I’m 5’3”, 150 lbs. and the men’s medium leaves plenty of room for bulkier winter clothing underneath. I’m impressed by every zipper and snap; all zippers smoothly open and close, and each snap pops into and out of its mate without a struggle. The front zipper opens and closes the coat from both the top and the bottom so if you need more room around your legs, you can pull the zipper up from the bottom and keep the torso area closed. There are also 11” zippers at the bottom, on both sides, that can be opened to help with leg mobility. The front upper zipper has a 2” cord with a textured rubber end so it’s easy to grasp and hold onto while wearing gloves. The hood is attached by a zipper and can be removed, there are generous fleece lined pockets on both sides, as well as a hidden zipper pocket inside the left chest. The hidden pocket fit my cell phone, small wallet and car keys then easily zipped shut. The ribbed cuffs fit snug around my wrists to keep out the cold wind. The final aspect of this coat that moves it to the top of the star rating for me is that it’s made from 100% recycled polyester. Overall, this is a very comfortable coat that’s easy to move in. The arms don’t bind up and the collar doesn’t strangle me. The only thing that might be an issue is the hood doesn’t have a drawstring. So, if it’s a windy day, the hood may blow off. I have a name brand winter coat I bought for about triple the cost of this one, and that name brand is FAR inferior to Amazon Essentials Puffer Coat. I’m still in awe of the comfort, quality, functionality, and style of this coat, made from 100% recycled polyester, at a price point of about $50. For anyone who needs a winter coat, don’t hesitate to pick this one up.

Hubby LOVES this coat

My husband doesn't really like big bulky jackets, even though we endure some pretty harsh New England winters. He gets warm very easily, and also hates being constricted. This coat actually has zippers on each side that you can unzip to make it less constricting, and he absolutely loves that. It's lightweight enough for him, yet he is still able to layer underneath it if he needs to. But, it's still warm without layers. The quality of the zippers is excellent, which is a big deal because a lot of lower cost items come with cheaper zippers. This does not. They are even 2 way, so you can also unzip from the bottom for even less constriction. The pockets have a fuzzy lining to keep your hands warm if you are the type to not like to wear gloves, like my husband, lol. The only issue we have with the coat is that we can't seem to find a way to actually cinch the hood closed. But, for the cost, this coat is an excellent value.

Great for a BLIZZARD

This jacket is really nice and heavy. I think for those -0 days in Idaho it will be great and where we live there are quite a few of those. I think it's made well and the zipper works and it keeps you really warm. Overall especially for the price it's a really good deal.

No warm lining

I ordered this coat a size larger than my usual size so I could layer up underneath, and I like a little extra room in my coats for extra warmth. It seems very true to size. I am 5'8" and this size large coat comes down to about 2 inches below my knees. It feels mostly comfortable and very warm. The exterior feels durable for casual wear and mildly water resistant. However, I am disappointed with the interior lining. It is that cold, slippery material. I was hoping for and expecting a soft, warm, fuzzy type lining in such a big cold weather coat. The pockets have such a lining, and I just don't understand why they didn't put this all over the inside of the the coat. Even the hood isn't lined, nor does it have any way to tighten/cinch it so that it doesn't blow down in the wind. The hood zips off, if that's your style , and all the zippers on the coat move very smoothly. I would have preferred zippers on the pockets as opposed to the snaps to better secure belongings. There is one zippered pocket inside the coat on the left chest area. Overall, it seems like a decent quality coat. It was also a great value at the time I ordered with a price of $38.49.

Very pleased with this...

This coat is fairly roomy, comfortable, and warm. The zippers are of excellent quality so you don't have to fight with them to get them to cooperate. The snaps work well, too. The hood is zipped on and removable and there are small zippers on each side at the bottom to release any restriction felt when walking. The only thing I think could be better would be something to help tighten the hood. It is very loose and would certainly not hold up in any wind. This coat is made in Vietnam.

Nice jacket with imperfections

I got this to have a long coat available for when it gets very windy in Chicago. This certainly does the job, with plenty of insulation and coverage down to about me knees. My only gripe is that the coat I received has dark marks on the back and shoulder, like somehow ink got onto it from something else.

Great quality for the price

Amazon Essentials has pretty good stuff for the price, and this long puffer coat is another nice addition to my dad's closet. For $50 USD, it's amazing to find snap button AND zipper closure, an inner pocket, fleece-lined outer pockets, detachable hood, and side zippers. It may be a bit bulky, especially for older people, but overall a good option if you don't want to splurge.
