Solid Bar with Proper Installation

I mounted this bar horizontally in my shower that is walled with 5/16" thick hard plastic material. Installation was a bit of a bother and involved some guess work and a couple of trips to the hardware store. My first issue was not being able to locate studs magnetically behind the shower wall, but I wanted the bar centered anyway so I decided to use wall anchors. I drilled the holes with a 5/16" masonry bit that worked well without walking. After some 10-12 size anchors and silicone caulk did not hold fast when the #10 screws began turning, I replaced them with 12-14 size ribbed plastic wall anchors by Hillman that provided a very tight press fit. I put some Gorilla glue around the anchors for additional grip and waterproofing and tapped them flush to the wall with a dowel and small hammer, and let them fully cure for 24 hours. I installed three anchors per side for maximum strength. I mounted the bar to the anchors with #10 stainless pan head screws that provided a good tight fit and hold. I also had some #12 screws on hand, but tried the #10s first and went with them. The two end covers push on and twist tight against the wall. The final result looks great and is super solid. I think it was worth the time and extra dollars spent at the hardware store on bit, screws, and anchors.

Worked out good, but...

"I recently purchased and installed the safety bar in my toilet closet for my wife who has bad knees. Overall, I'm pleased with the product, but I faced a challenge during installation due to my house's poor construction. The studs in my wall are 24 inches apart, and the bar's length is 16 inches, which made it impossible to install horizontally. However, I ended up installing it vertically, which worked even better for our needs. If you require a horizontal mount and can't find a stud on both sides, it may pose a challenge. Additionally, I'm not confident that standard drywall fasteners would hold the weight of even a small person, so caution is advised. While it might work, I have my doubts."

Very sturdy

This is a very sturdy hand rail. I have it long ways by my toilet. It was easy to install and works great.

No grip surface.

The product was ok except I feel the underneath part of the bar shouldn’t have been smooth . It should have a had grip surface.

Provided Installation Screws are trash - use your own "structural screws" to support this item.

The mounting screws provided by the manufacturer/supplier are very very poor - two Phillips Head screws stripped out - almost didn't get them out. So, I threw away the other screws and used my own "structural" stainless steel screws. The Grab Bar unit itself has a sizable "gap" around the escutcheon cover and you should be prepared to apply a good quality caulk/sealant to fill that gap. NOTE: the two Grab Bar units were installed inside a shower area, so water/rust resistant support material is a must. I used a clear GE silicone caulk! Looks great - Holds Great! And, for those who want to know, YES, I'd buy this product again (just use my own attachment hardware).

FAirly ease to install in fake marble (silestone) shower

Installed one 36 inch and one 18 inch bar 1 1/2 in diameter in shower. Very sturdy and fairly easy to install. Should be mounted into studs or use 6 screws per side. Screws provided are cheap Chinese with an off size, easy to strip Phillips head. I replaced them with stainless steel #2 Phillips head screws.

Best safety handrail ever.

This bar is the best. Our RV repair man came over to install the handrail for us. In a few minutes he was done. It has been a lifesaver for my husband. He has problems walking so added safety rail is a true blessing.

Used as a hand rail for my parents front door step

I’ve installed this to help my parents up and down the steps to their front door and it was easy to install, is very sturdy and looks much better than the scaffold style of poles I have seen other people have.

Excellent product

It is more than perfect for its intended use. Very sturdy on final assembly. In an emergency the grab handle will support a good deal of force. It is not flimsy like other Safety Grab Handles available in the market. A bit pricey but luck for me I got it at a discount. Even at its original price it is value for money considering safety.
